Wine Knowledge Thus Far

My first experience with wine was when my parents would give me sips of their wine when I was little. I usually didn't like what they were drinking because I thought it tasted funny. Neither of my parents are heavy drinkers, mainly they just drink socially or every once in a while to relax after a busy day. Other than that, the only experience I can think of at early ages of drinking wine is during church services with the grape juice the give out for the blood of Christ.
My first experience with a full glass of wine was in high school whenever I would have a girls night with my mom or with girl friends. My mom and I would always set up the Christmas tree and have wine, cheese, and crackers while we put up the decorations all day while the boys of the house went hunting. When my friends and I got together after someones heart was broken or for little celebrations we would go to dinner and come back to someones house and drink wine.
The wine I'm remembering in these early experiences all were so sweet and tasted like grape juice. Now I have experienced a various amount of different tasting wines and flavors and accents and learning what I like and do not like. I still appreciate a sweet tasting wine, but some of them are too sugary and sweet that they give me a headache. Some reds will give me the worst headache the following day regardless of the amount I drink. I have not developed an appreciation for the wines that are more dry or very bold, but I've been told that comes with time so I'll wait for that.
